Many of us ache for relationship with God, yet feel distant and disconnected from him. As if he’s more of an idea we believe in our head than a person we relate to. But God has a name: Yahweh. This one simple idea has the potential to radically alter how you relate to God, not as a doctrine, but as a relational being who responds to you in an elastic, back-and-forth way. Why do we feel this gap between us and God? Could it be that a lot of what we think about God is wrong? Not all wrong, but wrong enough to mess up how we relate to him? What if our “God” is really a projection of our own identity, ideas, and desires? And what if the real God is different, but far better than we could ever imagine? This book is a simple, but profound guide to what God says about himself. In his signature conversational-but-smart style, John Mark Comer takes the reader line by line through Exodus 34v6-8—Yahweh’s self-revelation on Mount Sinai—called by some scholars the one most quoted verse in the Bible, by the Bible. In it, we see who God says he is. It turns out, who God is just might surprise you, and change everything.

Each one of us have a name we like to be called and that name is how we introduce ourselves to others. For many of us our name was given careful thought and consideration. Often times we are named after a relative or someone who made a significant impact on one or both of our parents. God also has a name that He used to introduce Himself to Moses and to the children of Israel. That name is Yahweh. Yahweh is God’s holy name used throughout the Old Testament. A lot of people have never heard the name Yahweh and find it to be foreign, unfamiliar or even strange. How sad that as a people of God we have not been taught God’s holy name, the name He wants to be known by. In writing this book I hope to make Yahweh a name known by, respected by and spoken with reverence by God’s holy people. God has called me to write this book. My desire is like that of the Psalmist when he says, “That they may know that You, whose name alone is Yahweh, are the Most High over all the earth” (Psalm 83:18). As believers we should not be ignorant of God’s holy name Yahweh and the promises that follow knowing Him. “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation” (Psalm 91:14-16). Do you understand the depth of the promises God has made here? Have you set your love upon God? Do you know God’s name? God’s name is Yahweh.

In this book, Dawson uses the third section of the Book of Isaiah (chapters 56-66) as his scriptural basis. He leads us through this study by first exploring diminishing names and how we can be free of them. The author then directs us to how we may receive the blessing of the new names God bestows upon us--My Delight Is In Her, Sought Out, Repairer of the Breach. It uses imaginative stories, prayer, and reflection to enable us to fully experience the transition from responding to our defeating names to living our fresh identities in God.

The Bible says that God has written a mystery! Now if a human had written a mystery we would expect him to keep us in suspense with plot twists and an invincible arch-villain, but we think that God just writes nice stories about nice people. However, as C.S. Lewis implied, He’s a good God, but He's not a tame God. Since nobody tells us there is a mystery, we don't look for it and even doctors of theology don't see it as God waves it right in front of our noses and since we aren’t aware of it, we don’t notice the clues. The Abraham Allegory shows that when God changed Abram's name to Abraham, it was really a deeper picture of God changing His own Old Covenant name, Jehovah, to the New Covenant name of Jesus. God tells us that Sarah is a picture of the church, the Bride of Christ and together with Abraham and Hagar we can deduce that God has changed His name just has He said He would in Isaiah. This name change is also how Jesus defeated the Devil. Don't you remember that famous portion of the Bible in Isaiah that says of Jesus, "and He shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace?" Surely you remember when Jesus said, "if you've seen me, you've seen the Father." Aha! Now it all makes sense! Jesus is the great "I AM", God manifest in the flesh. When I tell people about this, they often say, "I always had a uneasy feeling that there was something wrong or missing." This is why the Trinity theology cannot ever be explained even though God says that the godhead, the biggest mystery in the Bible, can be understood. God says that He won't do anything without telling His servants, the prophets. These men of whom the world was not worthy, wrote every word about Jesus. It is no wonder now that two thousand years later, the great author of our salvation has the world still largely in a daze, even though He flaunts the evidence before us. Bravo, Jesus! Bravo!

WARNING: This book contains material of a CONTROVERSIAL nature relating to what is taught in Christianity today. Now, if controversy scares you, stop reading here. Really. It means this book is NOT FOR YOU. "May people know that you, whose name is JEHOVAH, You alone are the Most High over all the earth."--PSALMS 83:18 Today, many still believe that the divine name of God should not be used, because it is not known exactly how to pronounce it. The Tetragrammaton (YHWH) derived from a verb that means "I Will Become what I choose to become", "I Will Become whatsoever I please", "I Shall Be what I am", or "I Am that I am." The most widely accepted pronunciation of The Tetragrammaton (YHWH) is Yahweh or (JEHOVAH). For centuries, most scholars of the Holy Scriptures have known that the Holy Scriptures have been misused and abused, not only by the translators, but also by the early scribes. The mistranslation of the Holy Scriptures has caused the TRUE WORK, which the prophets spoke of, to be hidden in most translations of the Scriptures. This has been damaging to those who are searching for THE TRUTH about God's word and his purposes for mankind. However, the most damaging error in Christianity today is the error of removing GOD'S name from the Bible. The personal name of God has been replaced with titles such as "Father," "Creator," "the Almighty," "Sovereign Lord," and "the Most High." At some point the Jews felt that it was wrong even to pronounce the divine name. Some thought the name was too sacred for imperfect lips to speak. Yet God's name JEHOVAH appears nearly 7,000 times in the Hebrew text; printed in Biblia Hebraica and Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia. Can using God’s name change your life? Yes it can! In the pages of “The Power of God’s Name Jehovah,” you’ll learn these 2 profound truths. “The name of JEHOVAH is a strong tower. Into it the righteous one runs and receives protection.”—PROVERBS 8:16 “By me princes keep ruling, And nobles judge in righteousness. I love those loving me, And those seeking me will find me. Riches and glory are with me, Lasting wealth and righteousness.”—PROVERBS 8:16-18 Now you can take all the guesswork out of Christianity, and learn first-hand, why God’s name has been hidden from most translations of the Bible. Within these pages you'll learn how you can use the power of God’s name in every aspect of your life -- money, health, relationships, happiness, and in every interaction you have in the world. You'll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power behind the name and how hundreds of ethnic groups and languages have overcome obstacles, and achieved what many would regard as impossible. You’ll understand just about everything that’s happening in your own life as well as in the lives of those you’re interacting with. With JEHOVAH’S power you can be, do, or have anything that you desire! “You open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. Jehovah is righteous in all his ways and loyal in all that he does. Jehovah is near to all those calling on him, To all who call on him in truth.”—PSALMS 145:16-18 (LINK TO BONUS AUDIO & VIDEO SHOWCASE INCLUDED INSIDE)

We all have one–a Secret Name that is. The Bible tells us so. Yet few of us know ours. Ignorantly, we’re stuck, caught up in the “Name Game.”Using the story of the biblical patriarch Jacob as a backdrop, author Kary Oberbrunner calls us to stop accepting the world’s labels and start wrestling with God to discover our true identity. Jacob spent years living out the meaning of his earthly name: “deceiver.” Caught up in pretending to be someone he wasn’t, he was unaware that God would build a nation through him, unaware that Jesus would be one of his descendents, unaware of the lands he would inherit. Then he heard God speak his true name and the future God had for him unfolded. Oberbrunner reminds us that we’ll be unable to discern what God wants to build through us until we discover how God has seen us all along. In Your Secret Name, readers will find the courage to abandon what they know in order to become who they were born to be.
